Electronics Industry - Case Study #2312
Application -
Automatic Testing and Marking of a Sensor utilized to monitor the Speed of a transmission in a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Challenge -
Simultaneously Test two Assemblies at one time while Marking Parts and recording Data via Lab View Software.
Solution -
Provide a Custom designed Test Station with the ability to Test two Assemblies at one time. Parts are manually loaded into two Quick-Change Fixtures and the Cycle Start Button is initiated. Sensor and Cable Assemblies are inspected for Functionality, Resistance, Capacitance as well as Part presence including Grommets, Clips. Once Tested the parts are engraved via a Telesis Engraving Head. The data is then recorded and collected via a Lab View Software Package.
Bottom Line -
Due to the Automatic Testing of the product the customer is able to 100% test all products prior to shipping.

Automotive Industry - Case Study # 2523
Application - Automatic Testing of a Mechanism utilized in an Automotive Seat Assembly.
Challenge - Customer desired to completely verify functionality of a family of Seat Recliner Mechanisms, apply a passing mark to the finished assembly and maintain a cycle time of less than 9 seconds.
Solution - Provide a Custom designed Servo Controlled Test Station with the ability to changeover to various parts numbers by selecting a new part number on the Machine Interface Screen. The Operator would load a recliner assembly into the station and initiate cycle start via an opti-touch button. Once the cylce is initiated automatic clamps secure the part in position. A Shunck Gripper then clamps the Assembly and a Promess Servo verifies the position of the release lever position. Next the Promess Servo releases the Pivot of the Assembly and monitors the force and position of the release. The next test consists of monitoring the effort of the Mechanism rotation via the Promess Servo. Upon the results of a good test, the assembly is marked with a Columbia Marking Unit. All efforts and release forces are then saved via a pc. The data is displayed on a monitor mounted on the front of the machine.
Bottom Line - Due to the Automatic Testing of the product the customer is able to 100% test all products prior to shipping.

Electronics Industry - Case Study # 2552
Application - Automatic Leak Testing and Vision Inspection of a Cabled Sensor Assembly.
Challenge -
Automatically Leak Test, Magnet Presence Test, Verify all Grommets and Clips and in the proper location and fully assembled.
Solution -
Design and Build a custom Test Station. The Operator will manually load a Cabled Speed Sensor into a Part Nest and initiate cycle start. Once initiated, a Cincinnati Leak Test Unit will perform test to verify the O-ring has been properly assembly. Next the station will perform a Magnet check via a Sensor mounted inside the Leak Test chamber. At the same time, four DVT Cameras will verify proper assembly of all four Grommet Clips and verify the position of the Grommets as well. Upon completion of a successful test, the Assembly will be marked via a confirmation mark and the assembly will be transferred to the good part offload tray. Upon receipt of a failed part, a cable cutter will shear the cable and the operator will remove the scrap part prior to completing another cycle.
Bottom Line -
Due to the Automatic Testing of the product the customer is able to 100% test all products prior to shipping ensuring all Cabled Sensor Assemblies are ready for use by the end user.
